The short version: use it freely, and keep your own backups.

Acceptance

By using mediaconlab.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What the service is

MediaCon Lab provides free browser-based tools for converting and compressing images. All processing happens on your own device; the site does not receive, store or process your files.

No account is required, and the tools are provided free of charge with no usage limit imposed by the site.

Your files and your responsibility

You keep all rights in the images you process. Because those images never reach this site, no licence over them is granted to it, and none is claimed.

You are responsible for having the right to process the images you use, and for ensuring your use complies with any law that applies to you. Do not use these tools in connection with material that is unlawful.

Keep your originals. Conversion is lossy for JPEG and WebP output and cannot be reversed, and nothing is stored here that could be recovered afterwards.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

In particular, there is no guarantee that a given file will convert successfully, that output will meet the requirements of any specific upload form or third party, that the site will be available without interruption, or that it will be free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MediaCon Lab and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the site.

This includes, without limitation, a missed application deadline, an upload rejected by a third-party portal, or the loss of an original file for which no backup was kept.

Acceptable use

You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site or the servers hosting it, to use automated means to place unreasonable load on it, or to reproduce it in a way that misrepresents its origin.

Advertising

The site displays third-party advertising, which funds it. Advertisements are supplied by Google AdSense and are not endorsements. Any transaction you enter into with an advertiser is between you and that advertiser.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time, with the date above revised accordingly. Continuing to use the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
